Set a Goal on Mondays (Kim)

My TJ Ed thought for the week:
"What our children learn in the Foundational Phases is how to be us. Internalize that and consider how our attitudes and habits can inspire our hinder them. This does not mean being perfect (as in never making a mistake); This means repenting perfectly when we make a mistake, being consistent in our effort to achieve, inspire and promote excellence, and using simple, high quality everyday home life as the curriculum for greatness." --Oliver and Rachel DeMille Core and Love of Learning A Recipe for Success p.17

It's Monday again and time to set a goal for the week. My goal this week is to start up my "Math Club" with my kids. This is something I have wanted to do for a while I just have never gotten around to it, so this is the week I am finally doing it. I am setting the time for Thursday at 11:00. There if I have a set time I am more likely to hold to it. What I am planning for the math club is to spend an hour playing math games and doing different math activities. I have a couple of books I got from the library with math activities and I ordered Family Math, and Math Magic from the GWC (George Wythe College) book store. They should be here any day and I am very excited to get them. (By the way, the GWC bookstore has a great selection of books for children. Everything from science and math to music and poetry. Just look in the junior section.) My purpose in doing the math club is to make math fun, to show how it is used in everyday situations and to inspire my children to do more math on their own. If it goes well I may try doing it 2 times a week. It will depend on how much planning it takes.
My other goal is to shower and get dressed first thing in the morning. ( I can't believe I just told everyone what a slob I am all day) I always seem to get more done in the day if I get dressed first thing. I have been trying to follow some of the habits from the Fly Lady. (Great website for getting your house cleaned and organized) I discovered her website the beginning of Jan. I followed her baby steps for the first 30 days and it made a huge difference in my house. I have slacked off, but I am trying to get back into it again. She has great ideas and an assigned area of your house to clean each day, usually they only take 15 min. to do. Check it out and then let me know what you think. I love it.
Time for you to share your goal with us. Leave a comment or post on your blog and link to us. Once again, after you post your goal on your blog click on the title and post that link. Then it will always take us directly to your goal. Thanks, can't wait to hear from you.
