Set a Goal on Monday (Kim)

"Watch your thoughts. They become words. Watch your words. They
become deeds. Watch your deeds. They become habits. Watch your
habits they become character. Character is everything."
-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcome to Set a Goal on Monday.

This week I will be working on a couple of goals I already set. The first one is that I am going to hold math club again with my children. I set this goal a couple of weeks ago. I actually did it once and my kids loved it. I didn't plan much because I didn't have the math books I ordered, but we did do it. We cut up an apple and talked about fractions and then we played times table bingo. They rolled a pair of dice and then they multiplied the two numbers together and then checked the number off on their bingo board. Even my 7 year old was able to figure out many of the smaller problems and we let him use a cheat sheet for the larger numbers. They enjoyed it so much they asked if we could have math club every day. My plan was to start doing it at least twice a week, but I have been distracted for the last couple weeks doing other things and I have let it fall by the wayside, but not this week. My goal is to hold it at least twice. My son even asked if we could have science club. Some how everything is much more fun when you call it a club. (Maybe we can have spelling club or writing club. Will they catch on if all of a sudden we have 5 different clubs a day?)

The second goal I am going to work on is writing in my journal. I haven't done so good in that area. My goal last time was to write in it 3 times that week and I only made it once. However this is a new week and I can make improvement. (hey, even if I only do it twice that will be an improvement.) My goal, once again is to write 3 times this week. I got a couple books from the library with some very fun journal ideas. Now I just need to do them. A couple of ideas that sounded fun were:

1. make a list of some of your favorite things. (favorite songs, foods, places you've visited)

2. Record your goals and your resolutions

3. Write poems or stories

4. Record your dreams or wishes

5. Keep a travel journal on trips you take

All of these things I'm sure my kids would like to read about someday. I just need to get busy and do it now. Wish me luck.

If you are setting a goal this week tell us about it. Leave us a comment and tell us what it is you're working on or link to us from your blog. It is easy, once you have posted on your blog, click on the title of your blog and then copy and paste the link below. Can't wait to hear what everyone is working on.
