Favorite Books

Okay, I promised a while back that I would post some of our family's favorite read a-loud books from last year. I was surprised that everyone pretty well agreed on the top three. Here they are:

1. Where the Red Fern Grows, Wilson Rawls I loved this book. It is a real tear jerker though. At the end of the book I would tear up to where I could barely read, then I would stop and catch my breath and get the tears under control, but as soon as I started reading again the tears came all over again. You definitely need a box of Kleenex next to you when you read this book. I recommend it for ages 6+. Since it is our number one pick my kids obviously loved this book.

2. Old Yeller, Fred Gipson To read my 11 year old's review on this book click here.
Great book also. It was a very close second to Where the Red Fern Grows. I recommend it for ages 5+.

3. Little Men, Louisa May Alcott To read my 9 year old's review click here.
Also a good book. Teaches kids great moral lessons. It is a reading level above our #1 and #2 picks. I recommend this book for ages 8+.

Share your family's favorite books by leaving us a comment. Thanks
